Throne

She thought he was worthy

She thought he was strong enough

So she reached up, up past the clouds of fluffy afro

And plucked

And laid her crown at his feet

Everything that I am is now yours she told him

He grinned, and set her crown atop his head

And they sat on the throne together

For a while.

Then, one day, her throne was a little smaller

It better fits your form, my love he told her

She rearranged herself to fit comfortably

Another day, her throne was a little bit behind his

I am too jealous to share your beauty with the world, my love he explained

She learned to live in shadow

One day still, her throne was gone and in its place stood another

Another throne for a false queen

You are just not enough for me, I need more he said to her

She learned to live with nothing at all

Until, one day, she woke up

Put on her armor

And led an army right up to his door

Then, she reached up, up past the arrogance of his brow

And plucked

And sat her crown atop the fluffy clouds of afro

As she turned and walked out the door, all that could be heard was the crumbling of false thrones

Long Live the Queen.
