Fairness

Do you see, black man?

Your mothers, sisters, lovers

Out here

Bravely offering our bodies

To protect yours?

Do you see, black man?

The way we are ready

To offer our lives

To spare yours?

Do you see, black man?

How precious you are to us?

We have suffered a thousand deaths

A million indignities

To keep you whole

And we don’t tell you

To remind you

Just how much you owe

But, fair is fair

And reciprocity is key.
